What is a diversion ticket?

Drivers who receive a diversion ticket have three options:

1) plead guilty and pay the fine; or

2) pay the fine and attend Traffic Safety School; or

3) plead not guilty and request a court date.  This option is not available for CDL license holders; they must appear in court.

If you choose to attend Traffic Safety School but are found ineligible, a notice will be sent to you.  You have the option of filing a motion on your case and secure a court date to have the matter addressed.  If you fail to do anything after receiving that notice, an ex-parte conviction will be entered against you and that information will be sent to the Secretary of State.  All notifications are sent to the address listed on the ticket.
