Courthouse Accessibility

For the Domestic Violence Division Courthouse at 555 West Harrison Street, Chicago, that serves the First Municipal District, the following procedures apply:

  • Wheel Chair – Each entrance to the courthouse has an accessible door. If you find that you are in need of a wheel chair after arriving at the building, please ask any Sheriff’s Deputy and he or she will assist you in obtaining one. 
  • Hearing Assistance – Hearing amplification is available in all courtrooms. Upon arrival at the courtroom, tell any of the courtroom personnel and they will arrange it for you.
  • Sign Language Interpreter - Sign language interpreters can be provided. Please see this page of The Office of Accessibility for details.  
  • Service Dogs – Service dogs are always allowed in the courthouse. 
  • Other – If you are in need of any accessibility assistance while you are at the courthouse, please tell a Sheriff’s Deputy. If you require any additional information before your court date, please call the Presiding Judge’s Office at (312)325-9000 and personnel can assist you.
