GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 97-5
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF COURT RECORD MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT OF COOK COUNTY
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:
Effective August 18, 1997, a Court Record Management Committee is hereby created within the Circuit Court of Cook County. The Committee shall serve pursuant to the authority conferred by 705 ILCS 105/13, 705 ILCS 150/22 of the Rule 0.3, Rules of the Circuit Court of Cook County and the inherent authority of the court to control its records and docket:
105/13. Duty of clerks
Sec. 13. The clerks shall attend the sessions of their respective courts, preserve all the files and papers thereof, make, keep and preserve complete records of all the proceedings and determinations thereof, except in cases otherwise provided by law, and do and perform all other duties pertaining to their offices, as may be required by law or the rules and orders of their courts respectively. This section is subject to the provisions of "The Local Records Act", approved August 18, 1961, as amended.
105/22. Judges to examine offices, etc., of clerks
Sec. 22. The judges of the several courts shall, as often as once in each year, make an examination of the offices of the clerks of their respective courts, and may give such directions and make such orders in regard to the keeping of the same, and the records and papers thereof, not contrary to law, as they shall deem best.

0.3 Records
(c) Pursuant to the authority conferred upon the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court by the Constitution of the State of Illinois, the authority of 705 ILCS 105/22, and the inherent authority of the Court to control the record keeping of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Chief Judge is authorized to create a committee composed of judges of the Circuit Court for the purpose of examining the record keeping of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The committee shall study the record keeping of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and shall make recommendations to the Chief Judge regarding the same. The Chief Judge shall then enter orders to give directions regarding the keeping of the records.
