GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 96-5
Pursuant to Circuit Court Rule 0.3 and General Administrative Order 96-4, the duly constituted Court Record Management Committee of the Circuit Court of Cook County having met and deliberated, and having made recommendations to the Chief Judge,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:
The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County is hereby directed to cease and desist from activities purporting to authorize private service provider(s) to disseminate court records of the Circuit Court of Cook County, a judicial circuit of the State of Illinois judicial branch of government. Absent specific authority from the Illinois Supreme Court or the judges of the Circuit Court of Cook County the Clerk of the Court has no independent authority to contract or otherwise provide for the private dissemination of records of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
This order shall not serve to interrupt or otherwise affect judicially approved historical access to magnetic computer tapes. However this access issue as well as all other electronic access issues shall be considered by the Court Record Management Committee in a timely manner.
By further order of court, the judges of the Circuit Court of Cook County subject to the authority of the Illinois Supreme Court will direct the Clerk regarding issues relating to electronic filing and dissemination of court records.
This order supersedes General Administrative Order 96-3 dated August 2, 1996. Dated this 6th day of August, 1996. This order shall be spread upon the records of this Court and published.
