IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER No. 2016-08
SUBJECT: Juvenile Court, detention hearings, schedule
Effective October 31, 2016, pursuant to section 5-415 of the Juvenile Court Act, 705 ILCS 405/1-1, et seq.,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that:
1. Detention hearings in the juvenile court of the circuit court for Cook County shall be held every day of the year, including weekends and holidays;
2. Every juvenile alleged to be a delinquent minor and required to appear before a judge on weekends or court holidays for a determination whether the juvenile shall continue to be held in custody shall be afforded an initial appearance in juvenile court for a determination of whether there is probable cause to charge the juvenile with a violation of law, a determination of the juvenile’s custody status, and the scheduling of future court appearances;
3. The Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Justice Division shall establish calls and schedules for said detention hearings; and
4. The Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Justice Division shall assign judges of the Juvenile Justice Division to preside at all said detention hearings;
This order supersedes all other orders of this court pertaining to the scheduling of detention hearings for juveniles.
