JOINT ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER 11-2

RE: MEDIA ACCESS TO THE COURTHOUSE

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THIS COURT,

Newspersons may attend Juvenile Court hearings by presenting an Official Press Identification to the Sheriff's Deputy at the entrance to the courthouse. No court pass need be obtained.

Newspersons must obtain specific authorization from the Presiding Judge for any use of TV cameras or tape recorders in the building. Tape recorders, TV cameras and other electronic and photographic equipment are not permitted in courtrooms or courtroom waiting areas while court is in session. Juveniles may not be photographed or filmed in the building.

Reporters may use conference rooms adjacent to courtrooms to interview individuals, if the rooms are not being used by court personnel. The individuals will decide if they wish to be interviewed.

Press tours must be escorted by a Deputy Sheriff or a court staff person.

Written authorization must be obtained, in advance, from the Presiding Judge's Office for filming movies and documentaries.

Calendar judges may institute more restrictive requirements when special circumstances warrant it.

This Joint Administrative Order supercedes Joint General Order 09-2.

This order is entered this date, February 22, 2011, and shall be spread of record and published.
