FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
No Marriages and Civil Unions will be performed in Cook County Building on Saturday, May 19, 2012
Released On 05/15/2012
Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans today said that he expects the business of the court to proceed as usual throughout the week of the NATO Summit with the following minor exceptions:
- Marriage and Civil Union Court at 119 West Randolph Street in Chicago will be closed on Saturday, May 19, 2012, only. The Marriage and Civil Union Court will reopen for business as usual on Monday, May 21, 2012. An average of 75 marriages and civil unions are performed on Saturdays at that location.
- On the afternoon only of Friday, May 18, 2012, all cases that would have been heard in the traffic courtrooms located on the concourse level of the Daley Center have been rescheduled and continued to a new date. This means the Office of Clerk of the Circuit Court mails notices to all parties in those cases to let them know not to come to court on Friday, May 18. The notice also contains the new date on which their cases will be heard. Parties with traffic cases on May 18 also can go to the Clerk’s web site for more information www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org
- The Cook County Law Library will close on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 5 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. and will be closed on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
