Chief Judge Evans announces temporary closing of two suburban courthouses

Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans announced that the Third Municipal District courthouse in north suburban Rolling Meadows and the Sixth Municipal District Courthouse in south suburban Markham will be closed today, Friday, August 24, 2007, due to a loss of power and communications caused by last night’s inclement weather.

The Third Municipal District courthouse is located at 2121 Euclid, Rolling Meadows; the Sixth Municipal District courthouse is located at 16501 South Kedzie Parkway in Markham.

Chief Judge Evans said the plan is to reopen both courthouses as soon as services can be restored.

All civil cases that were scheduled for today in both Rolling Meadows and Markham will be continued by order of court to Friday, August 31, 2007, at the same time and in the same courtroom as had been scheduled for today.

The criminal cases of all defendants who are in custody of the Sheriff who were scheduled for today in both Rolling Meadows and Markham will be continued by order of court to Monday, August 27, 2007, at the same time and in the same courtroom as had been scheduled for today. Felony cases of individuals out on bond, also at both court locations, are continued to Friday, August 31, 2007, at the same time and in the same courtroom as had been scheduled for today.

All traffic and misdemeanor cases of individuals out on bond that were scheduled for today in Rolling Meadows are continued by order of court to Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the same time and in the same courtroom as had been scheduled for today. All traffic and misdemeanor cases of individuals out on bond that were scheduled for today in Markham are continued by order of court to Friday, September 28, 2007, at the same time and in the same courtroom as had been scheduled for today.
